Did not know music like this was created before I was born. OKAY maybe I knew but I guess I’m just amused and particularly interested because like… THIS ALBUM’S OLDER THAN ME. That’s quite cool, isn’t it? Like for Ride, how these guys were probably one of the pioneers of shoegaze which I like quite a lot. It’s an interesting genre but let’s not get into that.

So I’ll safely say that if you like… The Radio Dept. or The Depreciation Guild, you’d like Ride. Maybe even for fans of Letting Up Despite Great Faults. Ride’s less electronic, though. So have a go! I am now going to attempt to do a proper review/write-up on this album (which I have not properly processed completely yet, lol oh well).

Take Me Home is the best track on this album, in my opinion. Incidentally, it was also the the first track I listened to and I’m sure most of you will agree that first impressions are a pretty important aspect of any contact one may have with another person or, in this case, a song. Therefore, it wasn’t difficult for me to take time off to enjoy the rest of the album (I was streaming it on bandcamp: HERE).

I’d have to agree with my friend Sy when he mentioned in a comment on the link I posted on my Facebook profile that he likes the many layers stacked on top of each other on that track (Take Me Home).
– Silence –
Medium-sized rain drops falling onto the tar-filled roads and into puddles formed in portholes on the ground. Keys come in, they almost drown off all the sounds of rain. My first thought was that it was going to be one of those relaxing, listen-to-sleep kind of songs but soon, a new layer of synth beats are added. That was the moment. The moment I knew things will be different between me and this song. The point where you know you may fall in love. It gets stronger as the song plays (no, really).

Okay, I am not going to note down my every thought and emotion throughout the song but what I will say is that it’s one song which really makes me feel feelings I never thought any one song would. Happiness, nostalgia, energetic, excitement, sadness and awe.

I know I have only been talking about one track but yeah I am tired so I am going to stop here HAHAHA aren’t you amazed at how I change from being serious to not serious at all so quickly? Well, here’s the video. I think if this track doesn’t capture you, maybe this album’s not for you? I don’t know… check it out:

What I’d do to see Bon Iver live. Really… you don’t know. I don’t know if you know just how badly I want to see him/them. I just… I need to bring him in.

I’m at school and it just sucks, I feel like dying. I just want to go home and sleep and wake up not having to think about all the work I have to do and you without a headache and sore throat (which I am having at the moment, obviously).

The Drums on Monday night @ St. James Powerhouse was good good good. Went with Samantha Tan Puay Min and made some new nice friends, yay. Anyway, Shawn and Fiona didn’t think so though! They “didn’t feel it” hahaha but I kind of get them. “Didn’t make me scream” Fiona said. And the meet-and-greet was apparently very awkward. BUT not everyone thought so! Ican said it was A-OK! Glad to have seen her again ^^

Johnny’s dancing is contagious, it makes you want to move. There’s really no stopping when he’s up there on the stage getting his groove on (lol ok maybe not groove…) and you’re looking at him. You can’t NOT move. And he’s so cute. They’re all so cute.

Wanna thank Chong Hao for the tickets! Really forever grateful, really enjoyed myself. Wish I brought my camera though.

On a side note, SG needs more concert venues. St. James is just… so.. ah beng. Sorry. Am I wrong? Heh sorry.

ANYWAY wait, yes. The Drums is super catchy, super easy to sing along with, dancey. Indie pop fans, this is for you. It’s so Indie Pop, it can’t get more Indie Pop than this. Well, not.. ok I exaggerate. But please try this! My favourite track is Book of Stories (vimeo is very limited, sadly. Sigh):

I’m so glad I finally got my hands on this. I would have ordered it if they had it available on CD but they only have it on tape and I don’t have a tape player. It seems like tapes and vinyls are more popular now… does the usage of these products fluctuate in popularity like fashion? It seems to be that way. Retro coming in sometimes then skinnies then vintage etc. Now I have to sometimes ask bands Y U NO HAVE CD VERSIONS AVAILABLE??? They give me no answer.

Well, Police Academy 6. If you google this, most of your results will be related to the 1989 crime film but no, that’s not it. Last.fm says it’s a lesbian jazz funk band active in the 70′s but no, it isn’t that either. The Police Academy 6 I’m talking about isn’t a lot of things but it is, however, a worth-checking-out electronic chillwave band (which I am very proud and excited to have discovered very recently). I have little information about the band/man (I really don’t know but maybe I haven’t researched intensely enough) but yeah, with a little over 2 000 listeners on last.fm, PA6 has the potential to burst through the unknown indie scene into the going-to-be-known-soon indie scene. HAHAHA ok, I’m talking cock. I wish I was at liberty and in the position to make such judgments or predictions but I am not. I’m just speaking my mind here. Or maybe just what I hope would be…. meh.

Unouomedude (you-know-you-owe-me-dude) is a 20 year-old buzzworthy artiste. Recently reviewed by Paul Lester of The Guardian (yes, that is where I found out about him), Uno caught my attention at the very first listen. Emitting some really good chillwave vibes, he has a sort of MillionYoung feel to his songs. Not that it’s ripping off but just that it’s similar. I think he has something good going for him.

Don’t know if this is an official video but whatever, I told myself I will use vimeo over youtube whenever I can. No… I’m not trying to be cool. I just think uniformity is nice and good quality videos are important, don’t you??? Well, here’s a video for Teens (I think it’s not the best track but it’s in the top 3. But there are only 5 so… well okay. There aren’t anymore videos of him on vimeo okkkk that’s why MEH but it’s a nice song. The whole album is good):

Really good tracks on this album. I thought I posted this before… apparently not. All you metalheadz should get this! They are skilled and they are nice people and they are passionate and fierce and pretty damn amazing. As I mentioned in my previous post, caught them LIVE for the first time in Singapore (and probably the last, sadly) on Monday night. I will not forget that day. First metalcore gig! One more point crossed out on my list of things to do before I die. But honestly, would like to watch them perform a proper live show.

That would be awesome.

I really enjoyed the really awesome, albeit short-lived, gig on Monday night. The venue owner )og Home Club) was afraid they would break the lighting and sound equipment then some guy in the crowd shouted “Didn’t you know The Chariot breaks stuff?” and everyone laughed. Hahaha. Yeah, I think the owner should have known or researched a bit about the bands they allowed in their club before saying OK. It was really quite a bummer. My brother was especially sad, he’s a big fan :/
